Out & About: Art & History: A Private Tour of Hackett Mill Gallery
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 13 | 3:30 PM – 6 PM | HACKETT MILLS GALLERY
Tucked away in North Beach near the site of the former San Francisco Art Institute is a small though remarkable building. It houses a working art studio and the renowned Hackett Mill Art Gallery.
The space itself is saturated with 86 years of San Francisco art history and is a fitting place for this premier gallery of historically important art and contemporary painting and sculpture as well. It was originally built as twin studios for sculptors, Adaline Kent and Richard Boardman Howard—much of their spirit remains.
The Millenium Tower Fine Arts Council with Hackett Mill Gallery invite you to a private tour hosted by Francis Mill. You will hear about the world of San Francisco artists who worked, hung out and partied there. You will see paintings and sculptures of legendary artists: Manuel Neri, Louise Nevelson, David Park, Raimonds Staprans, Willem de Kooning, Adolph Gottlieb and many others plus exciting contemporary artists.
This is an extraordinary opportunity to experience the living history of a storied era of San Francisco’s art scene which continues today. Francis Mill, is the cofounder with Michael Hackett of the gallery. He has also served as Dean of the California Academy of Art, and is an architect, a practicing artist and charismatic art educator. His knowledge and passion for modern and contemporary art promises a memorable time.
We will meet at the Grand Lobby at 3:45 to board a chartered bus that will take us to the gallery where we will meet Francis Mill who will tell us about the art, the artists and the building. You’ll enjoy drinks and hors d’oeuvres with the art, the ambiance and the company.
Space is limited. Please sign up to secure your space.
