Happenings Here: Beginning Ikebana

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 17 | 1 PM – 4 PM | OWNERS DINING ROOM

Through the skillful use of line, space, and dimension, the Japanese floral art of ikebana highlights the beauty of the moment in nature – a simple feeling for the season without excess. It is a very appropriate style for the present times.

Enjoy: This delightful floral afternoon begins with the experience of seeing ikebana designs created before your eyes. To introduce the design concepts of ikebana, our master Ikebana florist, Rachel Johnson, will touch on the art form’s history and the appeal of Sogetsu Ikebana – the most innovative of contemporary schools.

Create: With an example for guidance, you create your ikebana arrangement to take home. Rachel will give feedback and help as you go along to make this an enjoyable time to express your natural creativity.

Share: We share designs at the end of the session to appreciate the beauty of flowers as art. Seeing, touching, and sharing flowers gives a sense of well-being.

RSVP: Seating is limited, so please let your club concierge know your interest in attending.
